Purple Bar - Bricktown - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

In the beginning was an idea, a vision, if you will, of a wonderful shopping experience. Painted Door opened September 19, 1991, at 8601 South Western in Oklahoma City with 4,000 sq. ft. of retail space, offering antiques, decorative accessories, home furnishings, gourmet food items, bath and body care and a wide variety of collectibles.

Painted Door continued to expand its possibilities and opened Nonna’s Bakery in April 1995. In the beginning, each morning Avis and one baker met at 5:30 to produce Avis’ personal recipes. Today, these recipes continue to be the very “heart” of this bakery operation.

The bakery items were so popular that soon a lunch menu and a dining area were added. Nonna’s Bakery & Café became the preferred lunch spot drawing people from all over the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Shortly after celebrating its 10th anniversary, Nonna’s served it final meal at its Western location on May 13, 2005.

Nonna’s newest facility, Nonna's Euro-American Ristorante and Bar, opened in Bricktown Valentine’s weekend, February 11, 2005. Nestled in a bustling Entertainment District on the corner of Sheridan Avenue and Mickey Mantle Drive, Nonna’s offers convenience, comfort, a beautiful, but unique setting and is the perfect location! It is walking distance from 6 major hotels, as well as, the Ford Center, Cox Business Services Convention Center and Downtown Oklahoma City.

Nonna’s 22,000 sq. ft. facility hosts a patisserie, large dining areas, private banquet rooms, and the Purple Bar with live entertainment and access to alfresco seating. This Bricktown facility also offers approximately 10,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, state-of-the-art technology and an on-site event coordinator. Nonna’s features two hospitality suites offering all the “comforts of home” with the amenities of a restaurant. The Private Suite , on the 2nd floor, is perfect for an intimate gathering of ten guests for dinner or twenty-five guests for a reception. Nonna’s Entertainment Suite, located on 3rd floor, will accommodate forty dinner guests or up to one-hundred reception guests. This Suite also features a private bar and two private patios.

Many local artisans were featured in the design as well as décor of Nonna’s including plaster architectural walls, faux wall finishes, mouth-blown glass fixtures, original artwork and wall paintings…showcasing Oklahoma talent in the casual elegance of Nonna’s!
